KMI Water appointed for North West’s £114m storm water improvements

KMI Water, the joint venture between Kier Construction, J Murphy and Sons Limited and Interserve Project Services, has been awarded a major infrastructure project in Preston valued at approximately £114m with United Utilities.

The scheme involves the construction of a 3.5km long, 2.85m internal diameter tunnel 30m below ground to the west of Preston complete with eight tunnel shafts.  The tunnel will hold up to 40m litres of storm water to prevent overflows discharging to the River Ribble.

Water Contractors Tend to Horticare Group

Safe working by the KMI site team making improvements at the United Utilities waste water treatment works at Kendal , has resulted in a £500 donation for ‘Horticare’, a community based day service for people with learning disabilities.

KMI Plus is currently working to increase the capacity of the Kendal works to meet the demands of future populations.  Milestones such as this current 50,000 hours worked is converted into £500. The site team choose where they would like to see the money go, and this time it was to their neighbours next door at Horticare.
